Amsterdam and Maastricht light festivals

It’s a good time to visit Amsterdam (actually, you could say that with justification any time of the year).

Thirty art installations and colourful light sculptures, specially designed by both Dutch and international artists, illuminate the centre of the city until 21 January 2018.  You can visit tthe water exhibition by booking a Water Colours cruise or admire the new land exhibition at the Marineterrein Amsterdam.

Something similar is happening in Maastricht but only to New Year’s Day.  During Magical Maastricht, the historic inner city is lit up with chandeliers at Plein 1992 and a light path crosses the river Meuse via Sint Servaasbrug Bridge and the Hoge Brug.
The lighting ties the squares and streets together and adds a holiday atmosphere throughout the city.
