How to find novels set in your holiday destination

I love reading fiction about places I know, have visited or plan to visit and TRIPFICTION is a one stop shop to find out what’s available.

You can search for books by location, by author, by genre – and cross reference across all three. So, apart from just selecting by setting, you can see which countries feature in your favourite author’s books.

Fiction can help you get under the skin of a location in a way that a conventional travel guide can’t. And when you are on holiday you always need to pack a good book or three.

So if you were going to Rome, say, you have over 70 books to choose from such as The Women of Rome by Alberto Moravia. Set during Mussolini’s era in the 1930s and 40s, the story focuses on  Adriana, a poor artist’s model, loved by a revolutionary and a fascist policeman. Or instead you could read The Silver Pigs by Lindsey Davis, detective stories set in Ancient Rome featuring Marcus Didius Falco. Or a light-hearted romance, or a dark thriller…
